Suspension adjustment help!

Hey guys,

I have a GS450T and I'm not too keen on the "cruiser" position. I'd like to change this and possibly also get a bit more clearance bw the rear wheel and the seat. I was thinking of getting the forks higher up through the triple clamp and maybe longer rear shocks? I thought I'd ask how these are going to affect the rideability of the bike and whether anyone could provide any alternative please?

Cheers!

Possible death trap. The GS450's didn't have a lot of trail to begin with. I have heard of tank slappers, but never experienced it even running mine at high speed and pushing it in the twisties. Proceed cautiously. Consult a rake and trail calculator.

Thanks for the input. I will try and use a rake and trail calculator before I change those.

You mention that you haven't personally experienced any tank slappers-what do you reckon of fitting a steering damper with a 1 inch drop at the front and leaving the rear stock?

I think steering dampers are dumb. They are intended to mask handling problems.

One inch drop with no change in the rear should be OK.
