Good question... hmmm... I'll tackle that later. The seat should be back this week from getting sandblasted and the new stand should be finished as well. The more I think of it the more I like the idea of using the light assembly from a vtx. Thanks Bowzer. Its got a cool look to it. Maybe Ill mod something. I should have pics up by next weekend.

Well.. Ive got the new kickstand on but its not much to look at. The two inches I added to the length of the stand made a great deal of difference. I don't cringe when I let it stand on its own. The seat is being sanded and prepped for paint. I should have some pics up by next weekend. I couldn't decide on what to do with brake lights so I'm installing 4 of these on the back end. They kind of have a 50-60s feel to them. Thanks for the interest.
Cheers

Where'd you get those? They might make interesting turn signals.

So. I've sandblasted the new seat. Brazed it to fit the frame and gave the rear fairing the same angle as the last one. (it seemed popular). Next weekend Ill fill it, sand it, and then paint it. Vans Upholstery is going to be doing the seat after its been painted. The battery sits snuggly under the hump and all the electronics fit under the front of the seat as well. The seat will remain completely stock mounted and removable for access to the fuse box, rectifier, and battery. I'm placing some glass mat on the seat section to give it some more stability due to the rust holes.

Picked up some signals today.. the stock ones don't quite fit the bill. I'm stoaked about this weekend. Paint the seat and mount some stuff on the bike. Then its off to upholstery.

I hate it when I'm on call. I never get half of what I want to do done. Dad and I worked a bit on the seat. Heres some pics.
The seat has been sanded further and a few mounting plates have been brazed to the under side for the electronics.
We laid two layers of glass across the seat pan to give it some more rigidity due to the condition of the metal. We laid a layer of glass mat followed by glass cloth.
Did a little fill and sanding.. then some more sanding... followed by even more sanding... not there yet..
Next we rattle can primed it with sandable black primer. Some spot putty and some further sanding is needed before the final paint job.
**Update**
Painted seat and added light (temp). I need to run some 400-600 grit sand paper due to some pitting in the paint. The air dryer needed new dessicant.
With lights

Argh!! The anticipation is killing me!
I've really enjoyed what you've done thus far, can't wait to see more!
It's builds like this, a bike that perhaps wouldn't normally get a lot of attention, that really crank me up.
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks. Yeah I'm frustrated too. I keep trying find the time to work on it and every time I turn around it gets put on the back burner so I can work on the house... go fix some ones plumbing "emergency"...etc.. I really appreciate the comments though. I'm taking this Thursday off and telling everyone at work to leave me alone. With that I should be able to get it painted and off for upholstery by next week. Then its just a bit of electrical and down the road I go.
I received the rear lights in the mail today.
Has anyone used that filler in a rattle can? My Bro-in-law tried it and said he was happy with the results. I just need to fill in some heavy grit sand paper scratches.
